Qwen Chat: what the official app is, and what a mod apk is not
Qwen Chat is Alibaba’s consumer chatbot. The website is chat.qwen.ai. The API key you use in a program comes from Model Studio, not from the chat sidebar. People searching for an APK are usually trying to skip a store region. That search is where the bad downloads live.

The chat product has an English interface on the web client we are pointing at. We did not score translation quality. If you need Chinese-to-English at a known token price, the API flash models are the thing to measure, not the chat app’s mood.
How it compares with a paid Western chat plan
We will not invent a feature matrix. The concrete difference we can stand behind is price if you leave the app and call the API: Qwen3.8 Flash is in the cheapest general band on the OpenRouter blend, and Qwen’s max tier is not.

The free chat app does not expose that choice clearly. You may be on a stronger model, a weaker one, or a routed one, and the app does not owe you the OpenRouter id. For anything you would put in a report, use an API id you can name.

Is Qwen Chat free?
The consumer chat site is a free product in the ordinary sense that it does not show a per-token invoice. Limits change and we did not measure them.
Should I install a Qwen mod apk?
No. If the official client is unavailable in your store, use the website or stop. A repackaged APK is how phones get compromised.
